This November, Waterstone is pleased to exhibit work by Mini Giri. In creating work for her series What Remains, Giri began with an artist's most basic material: paper. She then introduced only two other elements into her provocative mixed media pieces - color and fire. Using delicate patterning, brushwork, and deliberate tiny burn holes on Korean Hanji paper, Giri adds and subtracts, creating work that is a meditation on creation and elimination. Her South Asian heritage is her touchstone, as she explores the essential elements of a volatile world - one in which we are asked to contemplate the many small beginnings and endings in our everyday life.
