Waterstone Gallery's July exhibition, First Phrase, features new work by Carolyn Hazel Drake. For her inaugural show, Drake presents tenderly crafted ceramic objects and textiles placed alongside familiar tokens of domesticity. The installations in First Phrase are bittersweet meditations on personal and collective experiences had during quarantine: loss, isolation, and claustrophobia, but also of rediscovery and reemergence.
